It’s the Simple Things

God gives us instructions in order to receive the glory he has for us. Today I want to talk about 6 of those instructions. But before I do, I want to bring to your attention that God doesn’t make life hard for us. It’s work. It’s a fight. Oppositions will come. But we have instructions, reasonable simple instructions, to follow.

It’s the simple things that we sometimes overlook and make more difficult. God makes it easier for us if we would make the decision to simply listen to him.

In his word he tells us:

Believe Only (Mark 5:36)

-In Mark 5:35-43 Jesus heals the daughter of Jairus. Some of the people didn’t believe and laughed in Jesus’ face. These people were put out and did not get to witness this miracle. But his blessing amazed all those who believed. Therefore we must believe only in God so that we don’t miss out.

Do not be unequally yoked (2nd Corinthians 6:14-18)

– This one basically tells us not to agree with unbelievers. Just like in the story from Mark 5:35-43 the unbelievers were put out. So separate yourself from unbelievers. Do not believe the lies of the devil. Surround yourself with believers in Christ. See also 2 Kings 7.

Do not agree w darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14)

– Again in 2 Corinthians this question arises in verse 14 “And what communion has light with darkness?” Well when have we ever heard of any fellowship or agreeing between the light and the path of destruction? With righteousness and wickedness? Anything??? No . The 2 just don’t mix. We must not allow the devil or unbelievers to influence what we believe.

Die to yourself, take up the cross, and follow him (Mark 8:34)

-God tells us time and time again do not live according to the flesh. In this verse he gives us yet another invitation to follow him and gives us instructions on how to do so. “Deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” Just as Jesus did. I like the refer to this instruction as The 3 C’s when following God. Cost, Cross, & Commitment. The Cost is denying the flesh. Dying to ourselves. The Cross is taking up our cross referring to being ready to face adversities, oppositions. The Commitment is the daily process. Standing firm in faith until we receive his glory.

Have Faith (Mark 11:22-24)

In these verses Jesus had previously cursed a fig tree and while passing back by one of his disciples pointed out that the fig tree had withered away. We are taught and instructed here about having faith and believing. We must not only pray but Believe. Not dwell on “How” but “Know” that God will make it happen.

And Lastly,

Renew your mind (Romans 12:2)

– Do not be conformed to the world and renew your mind DAILY. This instruction, I have learned this week, is a big one and one I consider the most important of the 6. Everything you do starts with a thought then a decision to make a move or not. In this scripture we are instructed to give fresh life or strength, to revive our minds. On a daily basis we must be set apart from this world. How is this done? By the conscious decision to 1st transform our minds to have the mind of Christ in us. And thereafter being hearers and doers of the word. See also Philippians 2:5.

I love and thank each and every one of you guys. Your support means so much! I pray this has helped your walk with Christ.

Walk by Faith.Move w/o Fear.
