This is Faith: What kind of impact will you leave?

Isn’t is funny that the smallest things can have the biggest impact? A newborn baby or toddler, a ring, pieces of macaroni glued to paper, etc. The list could go on and on. Enjoy the little things right? When we think of the word impact we think of positive things but what about the little things that make a negative impact? Everyone’s list may not be long but I can bet that the one thing that would be on everyone’s list is: hurtful words.

The Bible tells us to “control the tongue”, let your speech be free from evil, complaining, and harsh words. (1 Peter 4:10) We never know what impact, positive or negative, this body part can have on someone or on organs bigger than itself. Have you ever noticed that the tongue is so much smaller than the brain or the heart but saying the wrong or right things can leave the biggest imprint on the heart or in someone’s head. Therefore we should show love in all our ways to people.

As our faith matures we 1st learn how to control anger which then leads to the control of our tongue. James 3:8-10 reads:

“but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.”

Right here in this very verse it tells us how we ought not to be. We will praise God, pray, ask God to bless us and with the same tongue speak harshly to Gods people. The people created in God’s image. Quite frankly, it’s sad and is not pleasing to God so we all should ask God to help us to guard our mouths and watch our words.

Just as we can’t be double-minded is Faith we can’t be double-minded in our speech. If God’s word is in us and we are made in HIS image shouldn’t the things that come out of us be positive, encouraging, full of mercy and grace?

So I ask you : What kind of impact are you going to leave?

And I encourage you to stay in Faith and be more cautious of your words

And always,

Walk by Faith. Move w/o Fear.
