5 Scriptures for the Frustrated Mom

Last week my oldest daughter learned about feelings at school and watched the movie Inside Out. She also made a color zone wheel in guidance class.

  • Yellow= Happiness
  • Red= Mad/Anger
  • Blue= Sadness
  • Purple= Fear
  • Green= Disgust

This topic really stuck with her so everyday now I ask her what color zone she is in. Most of the time she is in yellow. Friday night as we were talking she drew her favorite character from the movie which was sadness… VERY CONCERNING FOR A MOM. So I asked her why this character was her favorite and thankfully it was because of the way the character looks in the movie. PHEW! RELIEF(after asking 50 more times and making absolute sure this was the reason) But then she said “Mommy, you are in the red zone.” My next question to her was if she felt like mommy was in the red zone a lot or just sometimes. She answers “a lot.” Right then and there my heart was broken and I felt sorry for my girls for having such a frustrated mom. I made a vow to God, them, and myself that I would do my absolute best to be in the yellow zone a lot more. I often pray about my lack of patience and frustration, although as you can tell, it is something that I still struggle with. But I wanted to share a few more things that I pray about and scriptures that I apply to parenting.

  1. I always pray for a gentle spirit. (Eph.4:1-3)
  2. I pray for patience. (James 1:19&20)
  3. I pray that I may speak with grace. (Eph.4:29)
  4. I pray for guidance to interact and raise them the way God would have me to. (Proverbs 22:6)
  5. I thank God for my girls. (Psalm 127:3)

I pray that these verses will help all of you reading this portion of my blog. Thank you again and always
