Isaiah 41:15

Behold, I will make you into a new threshing sledge with sharp teeth, you shall thresh the mountains and beat them small, and make the heels like chaff.

                                                 ~Isaiah 41:15

I love this verse. It is one of my absolute favorites because of the confidence it gives me. Confidence to overcome the most difficult obstacles. When I first studied this one it clearly spoke to and helped me to remember to have confidence in God and in myself because he gives me strength. To be quite honest, its more strength than I ever imagined… Let’s take a deeper look at what God is telling us in this verse.

“Behold, I will make you into a new threshing sledge with sharp teeth,

    *Threshing: to beat, trample out, separate from

    * Sledge: instrument 

  – So in this part God is taking the weakest person and transforming them making them stronger. How powerful is that? He can take the smallest, weakest person or animal or anything and make it into something completely new and powerful. In his word he says that weak will now become strong. If you are in a difficult place or have been through troubled waters I pray that this will touch you heart and encourage you. You will be made new and strong, not only stronger but with teeth. A new sharp instrument with teeth. Imagine a baby that just cut their first 4 teeth, umm they are new, sharp, and they hurt. This can and will be you! Stay faithful and watch God heal you! 

You will thresh the mountains and beat them small

 *Thresh the mountains: this is referred to difficult obstacles, or anything that tries to come up against you

• The NLT version uses the phrase :You will tear your enemies apart.”
  • There is nothing that you should fear because nothing that may come up against you will ever overtake you. You have the power to defeat and overcome EVERY obstacle because our heavenly father gives you strength. He refers to obstacles or enemies as mountains. If you have every seen mountains they are huge, they’re tall. There is absolutely no way with the natural eye that we can even imagine some thing that big would ever be small again, not with the flesh. But through the strength and power that we have through God we can! Man, thats mind-blowing! Thank God for loving me enough to even want to help me in that way!

And make the heels like chaff

  *Chaff: a husk of corn or other seed separated from grain by threshing

 – The process of chaffing is literally separating what is not needed (worthless) from what is to be saved (a grain). Most of the time its a husk or wheat that is being chaffed. After being separated from a grain the husk or wheat is carried away by the wind. Again let me say: The grain is saved. God refers this process to destruction of the wicked or the ungodly.  So in this part he tells us we can not only overcome something that is meant to be bigger than us but destroy it but what??? THRESHING. Look back at the definition for threshing. To beat, trample out, and separate from. This whole verse, each part I just broke down come back to threshing the enemy. He gives us what we need you just have to believe it. 

So be encouraged on today and believe that 1. God is for you 2. He gives you indescribable strength and power and 3. You can overcome anything that was meant to stop you (I always think of the movie Hercules)
